homebrew tastetest
First topic message reminder :
I have gone through every coopers homebrew flavour at coles and can confirm that the pale ale is the best by far. Stout isnt bad either.
And at only $20 for 20 litres (including dextrose) is fantastic value for the budget conscious pisshead.
Actually I havent tried the canadian blonde flavour yet. But assuning that's as fruity as canadians Pale Ale is the best
I'm also a homegrown connoisseuir, but dont want to offend the policeman with talk of my illegal seed breeding genius.

Re: homebrew tastetest
Im not playing the victim card.
If i wanted to get off I wouldve blown in the bloody bag and gone on my way. I was sober as a bloody judge.
I have a very strict drinking regime of only after sunset and no more than a 6 pack.
(Unless I'm in a romantic situation where I add a 6 pack to my quota for every ugly point the potential floosie is awarded.)
and in my old age thats sadly alot of points

A six foot 4 cadburys fruit and nut, I'd be surprised if my bingo nannies gave a look, let alone some reasonable bit of crumpet.
By the way I got rid of your girl friend the other day. But not so much as a thankyou from ya.

Well Pox Boy ( as she so aptly named you ) if she really was sitting on that blokes face ( I suspect trick photography ) he would certainly have a dislocated jaw at best. Those thighs made Pinetree Meads look like Shirley Temple. Anyway as its turned out it was all a fart in a colander.

Re: homebrew tastetest
I just chilled a stubby to help me understand the flavours you are getting. I haven't made this beer for a long time so we will see how
good the memory is. As stated earlier, I left mine for a few months and from memory it was bloody nice then. Will let you know when I
try it in about 10 mins.

Re: homebrew tastetest
Yes I can taste the fruity flavour you speak of or is it floral? It still has a sweetness of just being to green, yet is still drinkable.
A bit of the sweetness will drop out with time and the taste will mature a little.

Re: homebrew tastetest
Im 3/4s of the way through that batch of your recipe. I can't taste the fruity flavour now. Its a good beer.
Just bottled the tooheys special lager with brew enhancer 2 (no hops)and it passed the sniff test.
Was a pretty strong smell actually but all beer and alcohol.
Will tastetest in 2 weeks

Re: homebrew tastetest
Had a chat to my homebrew man and he said that you will get the fruity flavours if you brew it to hot. Given you used an electric blanket it may explain some of your flavours. Mine are very subtle, not strong or overpowering, as if they are meant to be part of the beer. mind you mine is more of a hoppy flavour than fruity.
Re: homebrew tastetest
You want fruity taste , Drink apple juice or Orange juice. BEER is a mans drink should be earthy an that first taste has to make the hairs on your arm raise ,then you got a good beer . Fruity taste my arse.

Re: homebrew tastetest
You must understand Alexisio, that particular group of brewers are just a tad different to me and you. They've not had the benefit of our years. They lack the wisdom, the good old nuts and bolts common sense. Who am I kidding.... your as thick as two planks. But never fear you've only got to ask, what are friends for.

Re: homebrew tastetest
Yeah that was me buddy . As I remember it we broke two tooth picks and wrapped a finger bandage round it. But don't be embarrassed not everyone's as well endowed as I am. I told yer ,me mum kept telling me to tuck it into the top of my sock and pretend it was a varicose vane.
Which created its own set of problems, cos every time I got a hard on I started walking with a limp.

Re: homebrew tastetest
Talking of homebrew, I cracked A bottle of my very first brew tonight and the initial tast was quiet bitter (it was a bitter recipe ) but after a couple of mouthfuls man was that good. Nice and clear, a bit light on head but it still hung on the side of the glass well. Most pleasing for a first attempt.

Re: homebrew tastetest
Hey Dirty! I've just had a tast of brew 2 & 3 and they both seem to be light on aeriation. altthough no3 had a noticable vapour when i released the crown top. Could this have some thing to do with being to cold a temp for secondary fermentation? As the weather here has been cold. The tast is pleasant enough, like I would'nt toss it out. Whats your thoughts?

Re: homebrew tastetest
As long as you put the correct amount of sugar in for priming they will be fine.
Generally an average beer wants about 3 weeks at around 20 degrees. The colder temps will make them slower.
If it hasn't properly carbed up it just needs more time. As long as you put the sugar in it will carbonate. Some just take longer than others.
Low OG will carbonate faster, high OG will take longer.
Patience is the big ingredient for success.
