But seriously, when I realised we were being taken over by the vatican I naturally decided to put a stop to it.
Which is a challenge for 1 man sans resources. Actually it seemed impossible. But now, if very unlikely, I have found a way to do it. Who knows what will seem possible next year or the year after.

I picked the top when I bought, and looking at the price this afternoon, picked the bottom when I sold.

I just checked one of my pale ales with the enhancer2 and cascade hops and its smells very fruity. Which i associate with a bad batch.
So i checked the other one and the same smell.
Both new barrels that were sterilised .

Is it hops making it smell fruity? or have I fucked up somewhere

No you will probably find it is the hops. They are very distinct in flavour and aromour.
I think with the brewing beer that is the smell you will get. A sweet mildly hoppy smell.
I just went and had a sniff of mine and yes it is a sweet smell - all normal. I think the fruity smell
you speak of is actually the toned down hop smell.

Mine are ready for bottling,
but I have been cutting wood all day and couldn't be bothered.
